by Foy Critical Acclaim for the Long Beach Ballet Nutcracker:
"Crammed with special effects, the familiar Long Beach Ballet
version of The Nutcracker has nearly everything money can
buy. Opulent, family-oriented entertainment. Seek no
further." "Extravagant
and full of technical gee-whizzery. A holiday must!" "Festive,
fantastic and fun, fun, fun! What a high! Nutcrackers come and go, but only
one is so spectacular, so charming, so heart-warming and memorable that it has
become Southern California's favorite. For 28 years David Wilcox's
production of "The Nutcracker" has been seen by over a million people
at the Long Beach Terrace Theater, the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the Shrine
Auditorium, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, "The Long Beach Ballet's
production of The Nutcracker has made Long Beach Online reviews from last year's production (100% positive).
This show was one of the best Nutcrackers I've been too and I went to the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion Nutcracker with the Kirov Ballet, which was also good. There are many wow factors (no spoilers) in this show and it has high production value.... The seats I received where row 18 slightly off center. Its 2 hours with an intermission in between. My highly active 8 year old boy was able to make to intermission and then it was a welcomed break. I would definitely recommend this to others
The ballet was extremely well done.
The [Long Beach] Nutcracker was the first ballet that I have attended. I was very pleased with the performance. The stage props were great, and the large cast made the event special. The venue was perfect.
[The] Ballet was fabulous and the kids loved it.
The [Long Beach} Nutcracker Ballet was exciting, captivating and splendid. My 12 year old granddaughter and I enjoyed the ballet tremendously. The ballet included children which was a different offset from previously Nutcracker Ballets. Very well acted and will keep you interested. We would attend again.
I took my best friend and daughter (6 years old) to see the [Long Beach] Nutcracker in all its glory. What a beautiful stage production with costumes, scenery, a huge cast (we loved the little ones), and even the live horse. No detail was left out. The dancers were truly amazing
This is a wonderful event for those who enjoy the art of ballet and orchestras.
Took my 2 girls ages 7 & 6 along with their grandmother for a girls night out. We all loved it! My girls really had a blast & if you ask them their favorite part they will tell you all of it because they had to many to just pick one. :)
O.K. I'm not even into ballet - I just bought this for my "better half" to go together and I have to tell you this is the BEST PRODUCTION of the Nutcracker I have ever seen! We were both extremely impressed with their production, including a live horse on stage, etc. Amazing. Highly recommended
This was a very enjoyable production with surprises that I hadn't seen before. I make this a yearly tradition and have seen many performances, so this one is one of the best.
