Dear Long Beach Ballet Students in Academy Levels 5 through 8,

Previously we wrote to you about the Youth America Grand Prix competition.   Before we proceed with the selection process, we have exciting news to share!

For those students who are not ready or interested in the time and financial commitment of the YAGP competition, we are offering the opportunity to perform a solo variation, on stage and in costume, with a live audience!

A “Variations Class” will be held once a week beginning in September.  In this class, you will learn several classical variations.  The faculty will select the variation best suited for you to perform in the “Showcase Performance” in February (date TBA).  This performance will also feature a performance by the Senior Company (Academy Level 8) and a performance by the Junior Company (Academy Level 7).  YAGP competitors will also perform their variations in this performance.

There will be a very nominal tuition increase of $40 for the additional weekly “Variations Class” and a $25.00 performance fee.  Costumes are optional.  Students can provide their own costume or rent one from the Long Beach Ballet.

Classical Variations Class en pointe (must be taken in conjunction with the regular 5:30 class)

Academy 5/6  — Tuesday 7:00 – 8:00pm

Academy 7/8  —  Wednesday 7:00 – 8:00pm.

We hope that you will take advantage of this exciting new addition to the opportunities being offered to our upper-level students.
